Hi, I’m Ally, and I’m on the adventure of a lifetime.

I’ve been exploring the world since I was a teenager, first moving to the Caribbean island of Saba as a kid, then taking my first solo international trip to Dublin at 17 to study acting at Trinity College. At 18, I moved to New York City alone to pursue acting at a conservatory, and spent the next 13 years calling it home, including 7+ years working as a theater expert for Broadway.com and Broadway Across America, and seeing over 500 shows along the way. Then, six years ago, I took the leap and left everything I knew to start Ally Travels, with the hope of inspiring more solo travelers and helping everyone explore my favorite places in the world.

The kicker? I started this chapter of the adventure by leaving New York City during one of the biggest epidemics of our time (I’ve always had great timing).

Now that things are pretty much back to normal, I’m traveling full-time and exploring the world. Over the last six years of running Ally Travels, I’ve been on hundreds of flights, traveled to 30+ countries across 5 of the 7 continents, and get to spend a few months a year in one of my favorite places in the world, the South of France. I’ve been returning to the French Riviera every summer since 2018, and these days my local friends greet me with a cheerful “welcome home” the moment I arrive.

All while still keeping up with the theater scene in London and, most importantly, NYC, because let’s face it, I’m still just a New Yorker at heart. So if you need any Broadway or West End theater recommendations, for shows or what to wear, I’ve got you covered.

And, most shockingly, I do all of this while living out of two suitcases. Or, even more surprisingly, on a few occasions, just one backpack for months on end. (I still can’t quite believe it myself.) So if you’re an over-packer like me, I’ve got all the best travel tips on staying stylish while packing just a carry-on. And yes, I’m speaking from experience: I’ve lived out of a single carry-on for stretches of 3 to 4 months at a time while exploring the world.

That experience is also why I’ve been called on as a travel expert by major publications: I’ve been quoted in Forbes Vetted discussing luggage, talked plane etiquette with Business Insider (later picked up by The New York Post and Thrillist), discussed millennial travel trends with Newsweek, talked through common travel-booking mistakes with MSN and MoneyLion, served as Yahoo! Shopping’s go-to expert on the best personal item bags, and shared my top NYC hotel picks with The Zoe Report.

The one that still feels surreal? Being the sole feature in People Magazine, complete with my photo, sharing my fashion tips for the perfect Euro summer. I’ve read People my entire life, so teenage me completely geeked out, and honestly, so did adult me.

Between all the press, new friends, amazing adventures, and life lessons, the last six years building Ally Travels as a digital nomad has been incredible and never a dull moment. I’m so honored to get to share that expertise, as a travel expert, solo female traveler, luggage and style expert, and the occasional reformed Broadway insider, with all of you.

Follow along on my adventures here, or on my YouTube channel, TikTok, or Instagram.

It’s been an unexpected adventure so far, and I truly cannot wait to see what comes next. I hope you’ll join me on it!
