Overview of Maverick & Co.

Maverick & Co. is a brand that was born from a simple idea: that modern professionals and frequent travelers needed bags that were just as stylish as they were practical.
Hammer Tsui and Erick Lau founded the Hong Kong and London based brand when they saw a market dominated by either bulky, purely functional backpacks or high-end luxury bags with little everyday usability. They set out to bridge that gap by creating sleek, minimalist designs that combine premium quality with affordability.
Since the brand’s launch, it’s gained international recognition and a loyal following among business travelers, entrepreneurs, and style-conscious professionals.
Maverick & Co.’s timeless aesthetics, smart organization, and travel-friendly features make them a go-to choice for people who want to look polished whether they’re commuting to the office, attending meetings, or catching a flight.
Today, the brand continues to grow in popularity, standing out as a modern alternative to traditional luxury labels by offering bags that deliver both refined design and everyday practicality.
The Maverick & Co. Vista Waterproof Backpack features a sleek, minimalist design with smart organization and durable, water‑resistant materials ideal for travel or daily use.
Things to Consider Before Buying the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack

When you’re deciding if the Maverick & Co. Vista Waterproof Backpack is the right fit, capacity is an important factor to think about.
This bag is an ideal size for daily commuting, office essentials, or minimalist use, so if you frequently travel with bulkier items or need extra space for extended trips, this capacity may feel restrictive. For professionals who prefer a sleek, compact design, it strikes a good balance between practicality and style.
Another key detail to consider is laptop compatibility. This backpack includes a padded compartment designed to protect your device, but it only accommodates laptops up to a certain size. Before purchasing, it’s worth double-checking your laptop’s dimensions to ensure a proper fit, especially if you rely on carrying your computer every day.
In terms of material and durability, the Vista is crafted from waterproof fabric, offering reliable protection against rain and accidental spills. This makes it a strong option for commuters who often face unpredictable weather.
The aesthetic appeal of the Vista Backpack is one of its biggest draws, and one of my favorite things about the bag. With a clean, minimalist design, it easily transitions between professional and casual settings. If maintaining a chic and polished, modern look is important to you, this backpack delivers on that front.
However, if you need a rugged outdoor backpack or something built for heavy-duty travel, you may want to explore alternatives.
For those who value organization, the bag provides multiple compartments and pockets to keep essentials neatly arranged. Whether you carry tech accessories, notebooks, or small personal items, the layout helps you stay organized without unnecessary bulk.
Overall, the Vista Backpack is best suited for professionals, commuters, and remote workers who want a stylish, functional everyday bag.

Hardware and Design Features
Use of Recycled Materials
One of the coolest things about the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack is how it blends sustainability with style. The brand uses recycled fabrics and vegan leather when crafting this bag, proving that eco-friendly design doesn’t have to mean sacrificing looks or quality.
The backpack’s interior uses premium recycled polyester, giving it a structure that’s both lightweight, durable, and perfect for carrying your essentials without feeling weighed down.
Maverick & Co.’s use of recycled materials ties directly into their commitment to sustainability. The fabric has a smooth texture and polished finish, so while you’re making an eco-conscious choice, you’re also keeping a professional, modern look.
What makes this approach stand out is the balance it strikes. By using began leather and recycled materials, the Vista Backpack helps reduce waste while still delivering the strength and reliability you’d expect from a premium everyday bag.
So for professionals using it as an everyday carry and travelers using it as a personal item, who care about both the planet and their personal style, it’s a win-win.
Water-Resistant Features

The Vista Backpack doesn’t just look sharp. It’s also built to protect your gear when the weather turns unpredictable, thanks to its advanced water-resistant technology.
Basically, the coated exterior easily repels light rain, accidental spills, and everyday moisture. That means your laptop, documents, and other essentials stay safe and dry whether you’re commuting across the city or hopping between airports.
Maverick & Co. also added zipper covers to the design. This is a small but clever detail that helps stop water from sneaking in through the seams, and something I wish more brands did. Best of all, this extra protection doesn’t take away from the backpack’s clean, minimalist look.
It’s also worth noting that the Vista isn’t fully waterproof, so it’s not meant for heavy downpours or outdoor adventures in extreme conditions. But for urban professionals and frequent travelers, its water-resistant build is more than enough to keep belongings secure in the face of everyday weather surprises.
Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack Color and Style
This is the kind of backpack that looks just as good in a boardroom as it does at a coffee shop. It’s clean lines and carefully chosen details give it a modern, professional feel while still being relaxed enough for casual settings.
I’m obsessed with how cute it always looks as my personal item while traveling. Even on long-haul flights I feel put together with this bag.
Another highlight is the range of color options. The Vista is available in timeless shades like classic black, navy, and grey, giving you the flexibility to choose a look that matches your personal style.
This balance of style and practicality makes the Vista a go-to choice for professionals, commuters, and travelers who don’t want to compromise on appearance.
So, whether you’re pairing it with a suit, sweats, or jeans, the backpack adapts effortlessly, always delivering both functionality and a polished, contemporary look.
Maverick & Co. Vista Waterproof Backpack Dimensions

The good news is as you can see in the photo above, the Vista backpack fits easily under the seat as a personal item.

Organization and Storage
Laptop Compartment

One of the standout features of the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack is its dedicated laptop compartment.
According to it’s website the bag comfortably fits devices up to 16 inches, however, since the height of the bag is listed as 15.7 inches, I believe this would be a tight fit.
But with a padded lining that cushions your laptop against bumps, scratches, and the usual knocks of daily commuting or travel, I could see it working.
There’s also a small interior strap with velcro that keeps your laptop in place.
Plus, the compartment is also roomy enough to slip in a slim case or a few extra documents without making the bag feel bulky.
Outer Pockets

The outer pockets on the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack are designed with everyday convenience in mind.
It’s perfect for smaller, frequently used items, like keys, chargers, or travel documents. Plus it gives you quick access without having to dig through the main compartment.
My favorite is the slightly hidden top pocket that’s just under the magnetic flap. It’s the best for putting anything you might want easy access to during a trip.
True to the Vista’s minimalist aesthetic, the pocket is sleek and discreet, blending seamlessly into the backpack’s clean design, and the zipper is thoughtfully covered, adding an extra layer of water resistance that pairs well with the bag’s overall protective build.
Interior Pockets
Step inside the main compartment of the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack and you’ll find a layout built for effortless organization. Multiple interior pockets, including zippered pouches and open slots, make it easy to store cables, notebooks, or small gadgets without everything ending up in a tangled mess.
Overall, what really stands out is the balance between utility and elegance. The bag is designed with pockets that are strategically placed for quick accessibility, yet they don’t interfere with the rest of the storage space.
Shoulder Straps
The shoulder straps on the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack are built with padded construction to help reduce strain during longer wear, making the bag a practical choice for commuting, business trips, or light travel.
The straps are also fully adjustable, so you can customize the fit to your height and preference. I really appreciate that the adjusters slide smoothly, avoiding the frustrating snags you sometimes find on cheaper backpacks.
For added versatility, Maverick & Co. included attachment loops and tabs on the bag, which are perfect for clipping on small accessories like a carabiner, keychain, or travel tag without disrupting the bag’s clean aesthetic.
A few users have reported stitching issues on the straps when carrying heavier loads over time. However, after using this bag non-stop for the last two months, traveling around the US and France, I’ve seen no problems.
While this won’t affect everyone, it’s worth keeping in mind if you plan to pack the bag to its limits.
Overall, the Vista’s straps strike a strong balance between comfort, adjustability, and style, with just a small caveat for those planning to use it as a heavier-duty carry.
Trolley Sleeve
For frequent travelers, the Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack comes equipped with a trolley sleeve that makes life on the move so much easier.
This clever feature lets you slide the backpack securely over your suitcase handle, so you can breeze through airports, train stations, or hotel lobbies without the strain of carrying everything on your shoulders.
What’s great is how discreetly integrated the sleeve is. It blends seamlessly into the backpack’s minimalist design, so you get all the convenience without compromising on style.
It’s built from durable materials, the sleeve is strong enough to handle repeated use, keeping your bag stable and your belongings organized while you’re on the go.
Whether you’re rushing between flights, commuting with luggage, or heading straight from the airport to a meeting, this feature adds a layer of versatility that makes the Vista Backpack especially appealing for business trips and leisure travel alike.
Product Warranty
The Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack comes with a 30 day return window and a 12-month warranty, giving buyers peace of mind against any manufacturing defects.
It’s important to note that the warranty doesn’t apply to misuse, neglect, or normal wear and tear, and items purchased from the Clearance Collection aren’t included.
To make a claim, you’ll need to provide proof of purchase, and all the details on the process can be found directly on the official Maverick & Co. website.
While a year of coverage is fairly standard, some buyers might wish for longer protection given the backpack’s premium price point. Still, the warranty offers reassurance that Maverick & Co. stands behind the quality of their craftsmanship.
Performance

The Maverick & Co. Vista Backpack is designed to balance functionality and style, and after using it for two months, I can say it largely delivers on that promise.
I put it through serious testing over the last two months, including eight flights, two train rides across France, a month of traveling non-stop, and countless days running around New York City, so I think it’s safe to say I’ve really tested it hard as both an everyday carry, and personal item.
And spoiler alert, it’s held up impressively well.
In terms of practicality, the compact form makes it ideal for commuting and business trips.
It also fits easily into most personal item sizers on flights, as well as on international trains, which is a huge plus for frequent travelers.
Plus, the multiple compartments help keep things organized. My laptop, chargers, and small accessories all have their place. This made life so much easier rushing through security at CDG in Paris.
The padded laptop sleeve offers solid protection, and I especially love the upper pocket under the magnetic flap for quick-grab items like my passport or headphones. This was especially handy on my long-haul flights when I had limited room and just needed to quickly reach a few essentials.
The outer zip pocket is also fine, but I don’t find myself using it much. Normally I toss in gum, or my charging cable so I can easily find it.
The materials and build are another highlight. The water-resistant fabric has kept my belongings dry during light rain, and the zippers are smooth and secure.
That said, some reviews have raised concerns about long-term durability, especially with the zippers, so the 12-month warranty is worth keeping in mind. Personally, I haven’t had issues yet, but I’ll be watching those wear points.
Comfort is also a strong point. The padded, adjustable shoulder straps distribute weight evenly, and the breathable back panel helps reduce sweating during long days of wear.
I’ll admit, when I first opened the backpack I was a bit skeptical of these straps being comfortable because they don’t seem overly padded compared to other bags I have, but was quickly proved wrong. Even when fully loaded for travel, the bag never felt like a burden.
Of course, no bag is perfect. My two small complaints are that the black interior makes it hard to see items at the bottom, and the Velcro inside can occasionally snag on fabric or accessories, which can be frustrating. But those minor drawbacks don’t outweigh the positives.
My biggest piece of advice is to keep clothing inside a packing cube and always double check the Velcro is properly fastened to avoid snagging anything.
What I love most is the style and versatility. The Vista always looks chic, whether I’m in an office, at the airport, or exploring a city. It strikes that rare balance of being professional yet modern, and it transitions seamlessly between work and leisure.
Overall, the Vista Backpack combines smart organization, travel-friendly design, and timeless aesthetics. While some users have flagged concerns about long-term durability, my experience so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
For frequent travelers or professionals looking for an everyday carry who value both style and function, this backpack truly is a strong contender.

The Verdict
The Maverick & Co. Vista Waterproof Backpack does a great job of blending style with everyday practicality. Its sleek, minimalist design makes it a favorite among professionals and commuters, while the water-resistant materials offer peace of mind if you’re caught in the rain.
Inside, the thoughtful organization, including a padded laptop sleeve and multiple compartments, helps keep work gear and personal items neatly arranged. And the hidden easy access top pocket is perfect for storing anything you need easy access to.

While it’s not the cheapest option, it delivers a refined look and practical features that many find worth the investment.
